Fun-filled June school holidays activities on Sentosa

This June school holidays will be packed with fun-filled activities on our sunny island, Sentosa! Children under the age of 12 will get to enjoy free admission from 18th May to 30th June 2013 at the Images of Singapore. Kids will embark on an exhilarating adventure and be transported through a ‘time travel machine’ back to the founding days of Singapore through the SentosaLens mobile application via a smart phone. Besides engaging kids with the popular Playmobil through three new interesting stories and other Playmobil activities, expect to be awed by the different types of performances ranging from dance musical to puppetry to cultural face changing performances at Sentosa’s popular annual interactive story-telling event “Storytelling Comes Alive!” .

Finding Dr H at Images of Singapore

Date: 18th May to 30th June 2013

Time: 9am – 7 pm daily (last entry 6.30pm)

* Free entry to the Images of Singapore for children under 12 from 18th May to 30th June, 2013. Usual admission prices are $10 for adults and $7 for Children (3 to 12 years old) (excludes island admission and parking charges)

Description: Children can play little detectives as they help to find Dr H who has disappeared into the past. Along the way, they will get to sneak-a peek into Singapore’s past through time portals and keep proof of their time-travelling journey with augmented reality-enabled photos of themselves during the defining moments of Singapore’s history!

Fun at Imbiah Lookout

Date: 1st to 30th June 2013 (daily except on Mondays)

Venue: Imbiah Lookout

Description: Kids can be part of the popular interactive story-telling event “Sentosa Storytelling Comes Alive!” that combines reading, listening and role-playing in a larger-than-life set with characters coming alive. This year, Storytelling Comes Alive takes on a broader form, bringing you a kaleidoscope of presentation styles. Besides engaging kids with the popular Playmobil through three new interesting stories and other Playmobil activities, expect to be awed by the different types of performances ranging from dance musical to puppetry to cultural face changing performances installed for them. Fans of Playmobil can also play with the life-sized western themed Playmobil playsets that have yet to be launched in Asia!

From 16 to 24 March, the young entrepreneurs or ‘Playtrepreneurs’*, aged between 7 and 12 will set up their little stalls, to trade preloved toys and storybooks, handmade accessories and provide services like manicure and even the good old funfair games! ‘Playtrons’ of all ages are welcome to visit the Sentosa KidZ Flea Market and support these aspiring young ‘Playtrepreneurs’! The buzzing flea market will keep everyone entertained with a list of performances, from fascinating magic shows to engaging puppet shows.

Celebrate the First Sandy Spring Floral Festival on Sentosa

Usher in the year of the Snake along with the sun, sand, sea and a million blooms on Sentosa! Into its eighth year, Sentosa Flowers 2013 will be setting flower beds by the beach for the very first time. Spanning over 4.5 hectares (equivalent to almost five and-a-half football fields), the much anticipated Lunar New Year event stretching from Beach Station to Palawan Beach will transform Sentosa’s golden sands into a colourful floral wonderland, filled with seasonal blooms and larger-than-life floral displays.

This year, the island gardeners will piece together a giant floral carpet measuring 50-metres by 25-metres made out of 1,000 species, varieties and cultivar of spring flowers. A Rainbow Snake floral mural will be displayed at the event entrance to welcome visitors. In celebration of Valentine’s Day, Sentosa Flowers will also feature four specially created floral zones depicting the “Seasons of L.O.V.E” theme, where loved ones can gather to experience the beauty of Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter floral displays. The Winter love
zone will be represented by a larger-than-life floral snowflake photo-point. So do bring along your cameras to capture precious picture-perfect moments with your loved ones, as you bask in sunny floral bloom @ Sentosa!

Fancy shrimp on the barbie? This July, try tucking into succulent seafood that is sizzled to perfection over hot coals, in a traditional Hawaiian underground oven (known as an “imu”), on Sentosa!

As part of Singapore Food Festival 2012, Sentosa’s barbeque extravaganza will feature an oven in a pit on Siloso Beach, and offer guests a chance to experience this traditional method of barbeque that is usually only found in Polynesia!

Whilst dining on the beach and the pier, guests savour a scrumptious array of seafood, including clams, mussels, prawns, squid, fish and crab that are grilled to luscious perfection and accompanied by eight unique homemade barbeque sauces.

Before entering the hot underground oven, the shellfish and prawns are carefully wrapped two ways:
- ‘En Papillote’: wrapped the French way in Fata paper and flavoured with beer, which will infuse the dish with a delightful fragrance
- Traditional Indonesian ‘Pepes’: covered in banana leaves for that distinct aroma and seasoned with a rich and spicy Javanese sambal chilli paste.
