SDC has always been working with partners to trial new ideas on Sentosa Island. Some past and ongoing trials are listed here.

For each of the initiatives, SDC has provided venue and facilitation support to ensure a smooth implementation.

Lactation Pods

Go!Mama

Trial Period: December 2021 – June 2022

  • Free-standing, tech-enabled lactation pods for breastfeeding mothers to nurse their children across four locations on Sentosa.

  • The pilot exemplifies our commitment to providing innovative and user-friendly amenities that bolster Sentosa as an inclusive and family-friendly destination.

Drone Food Delivery

Trial Period: March 2022 - April 2022

  • The use of drones to deliver food from Sentosa to Southern Islands.

  • This trial explores options in circumventing the operating constraints of providing F&B options for visitors and staff on the Southern Islands.

ScentOsa AR Perfumery

Jetaime Perfumery Pte Ltd

Trial Period: November 2019 - April 2020

  • A personalised, multi-sensory, perfume-making for guests on Sentosa Island.

  • Personality surveys and Augmented Reality (AR) projections were employed to provide guests with a unique and immersive experience.

  • As part of the project, Jetaime developed a proprietary, all-new perfume using orchids and plants indigenous to Singapore and Sentosa.

Wartime Food and Sustainability Workshop

Trial Period: February 2020 - November 2020

  • A hands-on educational gastronomy workshop on food and sustainability, featuring wartime food crops at Fort Siloso.

  • During the workshop, participants revisited the dark days of the Japanese Occupation at the Surrender Chambers and learned how people adapted their food sources.

Autonomous Shuttle Trials

Trial Period: October 2017 - December 2019

  • As part of Singapore's Smart Nation drive, we facilitated the test-bed of driverless shuttles on the island.

  • During the public trial, guests had the chance to try out the on-demand autonomous shuttle buses to get around the island.

Sustainability

Solar-Powered Sunscreen Kiosk

No Fry Zone Pte Ltd

Trial Period: June 2019 - December 2019

  • The first and only fully-powered sunscreen lotion-dispensing kiosks in the world, these kiosks were placed at Siloso, Palawan and Tanjong beaches to provide guests with access to skin protection anytime.

  • No electrical connection is required due to the solar panels attached to its roof.

  • Sunscreen lotion was dispensed directly to users, therefore reducing the need for single-use plastic packaging for a more environmentally-friendly outcome.

Waste Management Sensor

Trial Period: February 2020 - September 2020

  • Sensors installed in litter bins will capture data on the filling level and transmit such data into cloud storage.

  • Reports can be generated from such dashboards to analyse the trend of litter bin emptying trips and volume, which could lead to prodictivity improvements.

  • Featuring an interactive storyline, the different historic exhibits at Fort Siloso were brought to life through the AR App.

  • The immersive experience enabled guests to have a deeper perspective of the rich heritage of Fort Siloso.
