Sentosa and Terra SG break ground on Asia's first experiential climate adaptation hub, in new partnership with SG Eco Fund to advance climate adaptation

SINGAPORE, 30 July 2026 – Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) and the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment’s SG Eco Fund have announced a three-year partnership to engage the community on Singapore’s sustainability and climate adaptation efforts. Amongst others, the partnership includes furthering the progress of the Cooling Sentosa Roadmap and showcasing SG Eco Fund grant recipients’ projects through Sentosa’s events and programmes.
2 Marking the launch of the partnership, SDC broke ground on Asia’s first experiential climate adaption hub. A flagship collaboration between Sentosa Development Corporation and Terra SG, Changing Course – Climate Adaptation Hub will be the first project under the SG Eco Fund's Climate Adaptation Package to drive community action in climate adaptation. The public will be able to access the Hub for free. The educational concept, experiential learning journey and visitor experience were conceived and developed by Terra SG in close collaboration with SDC, in support of Singapore's Year of Climate Adaptation. The hub is set to open by end-2026 at Imbiah Lookout, adjacent to the recently refreshed Sentosa Nature Discovery. Formerly the site of Sijori Wondergolf, Changing Course – Climate Adaptation Hub aims to transform the nature-reclaimed landscape into a living classroom where visitors can learn about climate change and experience climate adaptation firsthand.
A living classroom for climate adaptation
3 As climate education becomes increasingly important, Changing Course – Climate Adaptation Hub offers an immersive learning experience that makes climate education accessible and engaging for families and visitors of all ages. Terra SG worked alongside students, teachers and academic partners from the National Institute of Education (NIE) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) to ensure the educational content is scientifically robust and engaging. The self-guided journey showcases how habitats and ecosystems respond and adapt to a changing climate, while highlighting measures that help strengthen Singapore’s climate resilience.
4 The hub comprises seven experiential zones that explore themes including flood resilience, coastal protection, passive cooling, biodiversity recovery, ecological succession, and the role of individuals in building climate resilience. From 2027, paid guided learning journeys will also be available for schools, corporates and members of the public. More information on the hub can be found in Annex.
Groundbreaking ceremony
5 The groundbreaking ceremony of the hub was held at Sentosa Nature Discovery and officiated by Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations, together with Ms Thien Kwee Eng, Chief Executive Officer, Sentosa Development Corporation, Mr Kelvin Wong, Co-Founder of Terra SG and representatives from schools, academic institutions and the Sentosa Carbon Neutral Network (SCNN)[1]. It marks the beginning of a collaborative effort to advance climate adaptation education and community action.

6 Beyond Changing Course – Climate Adaptation Hub, Sentosa’s partnership with SG Eco Fund aims to encourage more climate adaptation initiatives across the island. As stewards of the island, SDC will work with members of the SCNN to identify suitable projects and facilitate access to the SG Eco Fund throughout the year, enabling more organisations to undertake initiatives that deliver environmental benefits while encouraging meaningful community action.
7 Through this collaborative approach, SDC and the SG Eco Fund aim to further raise awareness of sustainability, empowering businesses, communities and visitors to play an active role in building climate resilience.

9 Mr Desmond Ho, Trust Secretary, SG Eco Fund, added: “Building climate resilience is a shared responsibility that requires the collective efforts of stakeholders across the public, private and community sectors. Through our partnership with SDC, we hope to deepen the awareness of the impacts of climate change and inspire more ground‑up action to strengthen Singapore’s climate adaptation.”
10 Apart from being conferred with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council – For Destinations (GSTC-D) certificate, Sentosa is committed to bring real-world sustainability learning to inspire young audiences through our first sustainability travelling showcase in a mobile exhibition launched last July, marking the new chapter in SDC’s efforts to promote environmental stewardship among the next generation.
[1] The Sentosa Carbon Neutral Network, Singapore’s first carbon neutrality-driven business alliance, is a collective public-private effort to achieve Sentosa’s sustainability goals. Together, SDC and the network of industry players will develop Sentosa-wide sustainability solutions through the sharing of resources and expertise, while also leveraging economies of scale and a common network to introduce large-scale solutions.

In support of the Year of Climate Adaptation, a new $5 million Climate Adaptation Package under the SG Eco Fund will support projects that promote awareness and drive community action on four focus areas: building heat resilience, protecting against floods, conserving water, and supporting local produce. Applications for the Climate Adaptation Package are open year-round from 1 May 2026 to 30 April 2028, and funding is up to 90 per cent of the supportable costs.

The hub comprises a briefing node and seven experiential zones that explore themes including biodiversity recovery, ecological succession, passive cooling, flood resilience, coastal protection and the role individuals can play in building climate resilience.
Changing Course – Climate Adaptation Hub is a flagship collaboration between Sentosa Development Corporation and Terra SG, supported by the SG Eco Fund. The project transforms a nature-reclaimed former mini-golf course into an immersive outdoor learning destination where nature becomes the teacher for climate adaptation.
Conceived and co-developed by Terra SG in partnership with Sentosa Development Corporation, the Hub translates Singapore's climate adaptation strategies into tangible, lived experiences through experiential learning, ecological storytelling and nature-based design.
Set within a natural environment, visitors journey through seven immersive experiential zones inspired by the ecosystems found across Sentosa. Rather than simply explaining climate adaptation, each zone invites visitors to observe, explore and experience how nature has adapted to change over millions of years, and how these lessons can inspire more resilient communities.
Interactive experiences explore biodiversity recovery, ecological succession, passive cooling, flood resilience, coastal adaptation and nature-based solutions, encouraging visitors to reflect on the role they can play in shaping Singapore's climate resilient future.
