Sentosa partners with TADA to roll out on-demand autonomous vehicle service pilot from 2027
29 October 2026
New service aims to enhance first- and last-mile connectivity while supporting Sentosa’s longer-term smart mobility ambitions

SINGAPORE, 29 Oct 2026 — Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) is partnering with TADA Mobility (Singapore) Pte Ltd to launch a pilot of an on-demand shared autonomous vehicle (AV) service on Sentosa. Beginning with two WeRide-developed autonomous vehicles, the service is aimed at providing guests with more convenient and accessible transport options to get around and discover the island in a scenic and enjoyable manner.
This pilot will complement Sentosa’s existing intra-island transport network with a total of 27 pick-up and drop-off (PUDO) points, to be launched progressively. The autonomous vehicles will extensively utilise the service roads[1] along Siloso Beach and Palawan Beach, as well as the island’s public roads, to create faster commutes and connections for day-to-day visitors. This means that guests can get to the beachfront attractions and restaurants more directly, without needing to change to a beach shuttle. This is Sentosa’s first on-demand shared service to operate across such a wide network of locations. The first phase of the pilot service is expected to commence in early 2027.
Building on Sentosa’s initial autonomous vehicle trial in 2019, the current pilot tests a new operating model designed around guests’ on-demand needs. Commuters will be able to book on-demand rides, with AVs able to skip PUDOs along predetermined routes. This new service modality enhances overall comfort and convenience, particularly for those travelling with family or loved ones. Such connections would also allow guests to get to their destinations more quickly, bypassing the need to connect to other transport modes as they travel across Sentosa. Future guest experience enhancements, such as voiced commentary highlighting the attractions and offerings of the surrounding areas, are also being explored.
Thien Kwee Eng, Chief Executive Officer, Sentosa Development Corporation, said: “We want every guest's time on Sentosa to feel effortless, from the moment they arrive to the last stop of their day, and that starts with making it easier for guests to get around. With this pilot, guests can simply book a ride, get picked up nearby, and travel to where they want to go, giving them more time to enjoy the island and connect with their loved ones. This partnership with TADA is also part of our Smart Sentosa ambition and our role as a 'living lab' to explore new mobility solutions that can make the guest experience even more seamless and convenient. We look forward to hearing from our guests as we shape the future of mobility on Sentosa together.”
Technology-enabled, on-demand journeys
The pilot will explore how on-demand shared autonomous mobility can reduce waiting times, provide greater ride certainty and shorten connections between transport nodes, hotels and attractions. Each autonomous vehicle seats up to eight guests, with a safety operator on board.
TADA’s on-demand mobility platform will connect guests to the autonomous vehicles via a regionally familiar ride-booking experience. The service will operate alongside Sentosa’s existing modes of transport, such as the Sentosa beach shuttles and buses, demonstrating how different modes of transport can work alongside one another. Ride bookings will use GPS data to suggest the nearest available PUDO points across the island. Guests can scan the QR code on the on-site wayfinding signage for more information on the service and PUDO locations. The service will be complimentary for guests during the pilot period and will operate from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Sean Kim, Chief Executive Officer, TADA Mobility (Singapore) Pte Ltd, said: “We believe the future of mobility is about giving people more ways to move while meeting their evolving needs, with safety always at the top of our priority. By combining autonomous technology with TADA’s on-demand platform, this partnership with Sentosa will explore how AVs can make journeys more convenient and accessible while operating safely alongside existing transport options. We’re excited to take this next step with Sentosa.”
Innovation with responsibility
The autonomous vehicles are developed by autonomous driving technology company WeRide, whose autonomous vehicles have been deployed in over 60 cities across 13 countries. SDC and TADA will work with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to operate the AVs within stringent safety and operational protocols throughout their service and undergo rigorous checks to validate their safety on roads. Each autonomous vehicle is supported by a trained safety operator on board and equipped with remote monitoring capabilities to enable timely assistance when needed. Onboard digital signage and announcements will also keep guests informed throughout their journey.
Ahead of the pilot rides, SDC and TADA will conduct further trials to validate routes, booking, boarding, and safety procedures. Insights from the test rides will help SDC and TADA understand how on-demand shared autonomous services can operate alongside existing transport options, while informing how similar services could be integrated into the island’s long-term transport ecosystem.
The service will roll out in phases to manage operational readiness, regulatory requirements and guest demand. Phase 1 is targeted to begin in early 2027 and will cover the western side of the island, connecting hotels, beachfronts and attractions around Siloso, Imbiah, Beach Station, and more. Subsequent phases will extend the service to the rest of Sentosa, subject to LTA’s regulatory approvals.
